Imagine seeing the world with limited vision. What would you notice? What would you miss? The simple answer for me is to focus intensely on as much of the world as I can possibly see. Diagnosed with a permanent, degenerative eye condition as a teenager, I see things in my own way. Detail, texture, and color are what I am drawn to most.
Some of my favorite artists include Van Gogh, Pollock, Picasso, Monet, Pissarro, Braque and Seurat. I love to get inspired by meandering through galleries and art supply stores as often as possible. Creating texture intrigues me and I love to see what tools and acrylic mediums I can use to make the colors meld and rise up from the canvas.
I grew up in a military family and have been to some pretty cool places. We moved often and I learned to be adaptable and resilient. I have always had a great love of art but it didn't always fit into my day to day. After college, I raised two amazing children and was a Special Education Teacher for several years. Later, I went into corporate management and worked as a Financial Officer. Still working in finance, my nest is empty and I have more time to explore my passion for art.
Currently, I am a member of the Alexandria Art League and have had pieces displayed in the Target Gallery and The Art League Gallery in the Torpedo Factory. I also have several pieces in private collections.
